Housed within the historic former Valley City Manufacturing works on Hatt Street, our atelier occupies a small part of a remarkable Dundas industrial landmark. The foundry building was rebuilt in stone in 1846 following a fire at the original Gartshore Foundry, and later became home to Valley City Manufacturing, whose makers worked at 64 Hatt Street for more than a century.
Today, our atelier continues a long history of making within these old walls.
Over the last several months, we have slowly reimagined our corner of the building. Historic brick was revealed wall by wall, old mortar carefully repaired, the ceiling sympathetically restored, and the pieces that have followed Tidelands House through the years brought together once again.
Some you may remember from our first shop on Queen Street in Toronto. Others came with us from Cambridge, while still more were found especially for this new home.
Today, the atelier brings together the many threads of Tidelands House beneath one roof: our complete collection of botanical skincare, fresh floral distillations, house-crafted botanical teas, bathing preparations, objects for the home, books, found pieces, and a considered collection of goods from independent makers we deeply admire.
Everything within these walls has been chosen with intention. Handcrafted goods sit among antiques and found objects, alongside the work of Canadian and European artists, craftspeople and small-batch purveyors who share our affection for thoughtful materials, old methods and things made slowly.
Come to discover the collection in person, smell the newest distillations, explore seasonal preparations, find something unexpected for the home, or simply spend a while among the flowers, old wood, brick and bottles.

Fine Botanical Skincare
Our complete Tidelands House collection, formulated and prepared in small batches using whole-plant extracts, distillations, ferments, tinctures, botanical oils, flowers, roots and resins.
Fresh Distillations & Seasonal Preparations
Small runs shaped by what is flowering, growing and being gathered throughout the year. Some preparations exist only for a particular harvest or season.
The Botanical Tea Collection
House-crafted loose-leaf botanical teas blended from certified-organic herbs, flowers, fruit, leaves, seeds and roots.
Artisan Goods & Found Objects
A changing collection of handmade bathing goods, brushes, textiles, ceramics, books, objects for the home, antiques and curiosities from makers both close to home and farther afield.
BEFORE YOUR VISIT
Our atelier is an independent working shop and our collection changes continually. Seasonal distillations, botanical preparations, antiques and found objects may arrive in very small quantities and may not always appear online.
